Garden Wedding Invitation

So here is an invitation that I designed for a couple that is having their reception outside. There are beautiful rose bushes all around the site and they wanted me to incorporate that into their invitation.  The bridesmaids dresses are also a deep maroon color so I played with reds and browns.

Some popular trends for invitation design elements are monograms.  This would usually have the couple’s initials designed into a logo.  Another popular trend is to have a repetitive pattern, with the wedding colors brought into the pattern.  This is usually used as a border.  And of course you have your tropical themes with the palm trees, beaches, and flowers as design elements.  Flowers is in it’s own category by itself…it can take a more formal look, or have a bright and fun feel to it…all this depends on what the theme of your wedding is.

Boarding Pass Invitations

One of my clients is having a destination wedding and she wanted a very unique type of invitation.  Because of the location she wanted her wedding invitation to look like boarding passes.  So in honor of the theme,  I posted some of my designs that look like plane tickets and luggage tags.

Destination weddings are more and more popular these days, and surprising there is an increase in demand on custom boarding pass invitations.  These are just a few of my samples…but I’ll be sure to have more posted soon!! =)

Beach Themed Wedding Invitation

When Chalida approached me and described what kind of invitation she wanted I knew right off the bat that putting together this project would be so much fun.  Their wedding was at the Adamson House in Malibu CA.  It is a beautiful location right next to the beach.  The Adamson House is a classic home built in the 1930s.  The house and grounds share one of the most beautiful beach locations in Southern California and has a very classic feel to it.  The tiles of the house are very organic and has a distinct color scheme.

When I saw the images of the interior and exterior of the house it immediately gave me inspiration to start designing some samples.  After showing them to Chalida and William we narrowed it down to this one and then fine tuned it.  And the end result is what you see above.

Lingerie Invitation

This was a very fun project to work on!  My client, Diane, came to me wanting to do something fun for her cousin’s bridal shower.  So instead of a traditional bridal shower they wanted to go with a lingerie theme.

Just a fun fact:  The idea of the traditional shower was to prepare the bride to be for married life.  The shower is actually a tradition that originated in Holland.  If a Dutch bride was unfortunate enough to have her father disapprove of her choice in spouse, he would not offer a dowry. The bride’s friends then would shower her with gifts so that she could still marry her man, without the help of her family’s money.

Bachelorette Party!!

In honor of working on an invitation for a Bachelorette Party I thought I blog about some of the most common places these events take place.  For me…my girlfriends took me down to The Gaslamp District in San Diego, CA. We went club/bar hopping all night long.  I’m not sure how many places we stopped by, but I can assure you that we probably hit every single location that was open.  The following are some other ideas/places that can be fun:

Las Vegas: This of course is one of the most popular places to go to for a Bachelorette Party.  There’s plenty of clubs, bars, shows, drinks, spas, etc.  It’s the one place you can go to for just about anything.  Getting into clubs should be no problem at all!  During the day…especially the day after clubbing all night…try relaxing by the hotel pool, taking a light nap while tanning in the dessert heat.  This is a great bonding experience and it’s a place where nothing ever closes.

Day Spas:  Another idea would be to spend a day at a spa.  My recommendation would be going to a place like Glen Ivy Springs in Corona.  You can rent out private rooms and there are plenty of different springs you and your girlfriends can relax at.  You pretty much get pampered all day long with massages, facials, mud wraps…this is something I would do a few months before your wedding, you don’t want to risk getting a sun burned right before saying I do.

Wineries:  For those who don’t like the crowds at Las Vegas or Night Clubs…you can always do a winery tour.  Just have some of your closest girlfriends and you can go from winery to winery in a limo.  The tours have wonderful views of the vineyards, and the best thing is…you don’t have to worry about getting tipsy.

Slumber Party: And for those on a budget you can always throw a slumber party!  You can play games all night and invite some entertainment as well!  It’s safe, comfortable, and there’s tons of time to bond with your closest friends.

Fun things you can do at your Reception!

Receptions do have to be just a meal and dancing anymore…there are actually a lot of unique vendors to can add to the event and make it so much more. One of my favorite items is adding a photobooth…I actually planned for this for my own wedding and it was such a blast watching everyone’s reactions to the Red Cheese Photo Booth…there was always line for the booth and people couldn’t get enough of it.  You can have guest posts the pictures to your guest book have them keep it as favors.  (BTW…all the images are amazing…crystal clear and vivid colors)

I went to another wedding where they have an Artist come set up an area for caricatures.  That too was a blast…the lines for that were soooo long that I didn’t get to do one =(  but that’s okay.  And of course…you can always hire a fortune teller to entertain the guest as well.  Depending on what your budget how long your reception is, there are plenty ideas to spark something for guests to talk about!
